Sod Installation in Kissimmee
We clear out tired turf, correct the grade and lay fresh sod suited to the light your yard actually gets. Then we leave you with a clear watering plan, so the new grass roots in and stays full for years rather than a single season.

A new lawn that starts from the soil up
New sod looks finished the day it goes down. Whether it still looks that way two summers later depends on what happened before the first pallet was unloaded. Sandy Central Florida soil drains fast and holds little, so we spend real time on removal, grading and soil contact before any grass is laid.
Sod installation is the right call when a lawn has thinned past the point where feeding and spot repairs will bring it back, when weeds have taken over, or when construction has left bare ground. If the grass is only stressed, we will tell you, and regular lawn care may be the better use of your money.
Landscaping Kissimmee is family-owned and business licensed. We have been in business since 2018, and much of our sod work comes from homeowners who want grass that holds up under ordinary care instead of needing to be replaced again a few years from now.
What goes into the job
Stripping out the old lawn
Existing grass and weeds come out root and all, with a sod cutter wherever the ground allows. Burying old turf under new sod leaves a spongy layer that dries out and lets weeds push back through.
Grading and soil preparation
We level low spots, pull the grade away from your foundation and loosen the top few inches so new roots can push down. Where the sand is especially poor, we may suggest working in a soil amendment.
Choosing the right grass
Full-sun yards usually do well with a St. Augustine variety such as Floratam. Shadier areas under oaks need a more shade-tolerant type, and zoysia or bahia can suit owners who want a different feel or lower inputs. We match the grass to each part of the yard, not the whole lot to one choice.
Tight seams and a clean finish
Pieces go down staggered like brickwork, pressed tight with no gaps, then rolled for firm soil contact. We cut neat edges along beds, walks and driveways.
Irrigation check and first watering
Before we leave, we run your sprinkler zones, adjust heads that miss the new sod and give it a deep first soak. Larger coverage problems can be handled through our irrigation service.
Signs your lawn is ready for new sod
Bare patches that stay bare
If thin areas stay thin through a full growing season despite feeding and watering, the turf around them has usually run out of vigor.
Spreading dead areas in summer
Brown patches that widen through hot, dry weeks in St. Augustine are often chinch bug damage. Once large sections are gone, replacing them is usually more practical than waiting for recovery.
More weeds than grass
When dollarweed, sedge and crabgrass make up most of what you mow, treatment alone rarely restores a full lawn.
Puddles and low spots
Water that sits after summer storms points to grading problems. Fixing the grade during a sod job solves the drainage and the patchy growth together.
Bare ground after other work
A new patio, a removed tree or a ground-out stump often leaves soil that needs finishing. Sod closes it up quickly and blends with the rest of the yard.
How the work runs
- 1
Walkthrough and estimate
We visit your home, measure the area, look at sun and shade through the yard and check your sprinkler coverage. You get a clear estimate and an honest view of whether new sod is needed at all.
- 2
Preparation
We remove old turf and weeds, haul away the debris, and grade and loosen the soil. On most yards this happens the same day as installation, just before the sod arrives.
- 3
Installation
Fresh-cut sod is delivered and laid promptly so the roots do not dry on the pallet. We stagger the seams, trim the edges, roll the surface and water it in.
- 4
The first few weeks
We leave written watering steps, starting with frequent light watering and tapering as roots take hold. Stay off the new lawn while it knits down, and hold the first mow until the sod no longer lifts when tugged.
What shapes the cost of new sod
We put a number on a sod job only after seeing the yard in person. Lawns with identical measurements can need very different amounts of prep, depending on what is growing there now and how the ground lies. Your estimate breaks out the area, the grass and the prep work line by line, so nothing is hidden.
- Square footage
- Sod is ordered by the pallet, so the measured area sets the material quantity and much of the labor.
- Removal and grading
- A lawn with heavy weed cover, old roots or uneven ground takes more cutting, hauling and leveling than one that is mostly bare and flat.
- Grass variety
- Shade-tolerant types and zoysia generally cost more than standard full-sun St. Augustine or bahia.
- Access and irrigation
- Narrow side yards and fenced backyards slow delivery and hauling. Sprinkler heads that need moving or adding for even coverage are listed as their own line.

When is the best time of year to lay sod in Kissimmee?
Grass roots fastest in the warm months, so late spring through early fall is ideal. The summer rains help, though we still plan watering around them. Sod can go down in our mild winters too; it just roots more slowly.
Can you lay new sod over my existing grass?
We do not recommend it. Old turf underneath keeps the new roots from reaching soil, and the lawn tends to dry out and thin within a season. Removing it first is what lets the new sod last.
When can my family use the new lawn, and when does it get its first cut?
For roughly the first two weeks, keep people and pets mostly off it while the roots grip the soil. The first mow usually comes two to three weeks after installation, once a piece stays put when you pull on a corner. That first cut should be on a slightly higher mower setting than usual.
Do I need a sprinkler system for new sod?
It is very hard to keep new sod evenly watered by hand in our heat. If you have irrigation, we check and adjust it during the job. If coverage is poor or there is no system, we can talk through options with you during the walkthrough.
Can I spread the cost of a larger lawn project over time?
Yes. You can finance as much as $100,000, with repayment terms anywhere from two to twelve years, and paying the balance off early carries no penalty. Homeowners often use it when new sod is one part of a bigger plan that includes hardscape installation or landscape design.
